Should I get Borderlands or Fallout New Vegas next?
Should I get Borderlands or Fallout New Vegas next?
I really loved Fallout 3 and it's expansions. I'm thinking of getting New Vegas, but I've also had my eye on Borderlands. I love games with tons of weapon upgrades, looting and leveling. Fallout's open worlds really interest me as well. So I guess my question is, should I just continue to feed my Fallout addiction, or try something new with Borderlands?

I think if you loved Fallout 3, you won't love New Vegas.
Give Borderlands a try, it's really awesome.

If you think of getting either Borderlands or any other game, the correct answer is Borderlands.

Outside of maybe preferring the story/environment of Fallout 3 over New Vegas, the two games are very similar. I enjoyed both.
Borderlands is a bit different - but you do have the added angle of co-op play.

If I gave too many whys, I'd be spoiling the game for someone that has yet to make a choice.isiolia wrote:Why?irixith wrote:I think if you loved Fallout 3, you won't love New Vegas.

I think Borderlands is definitely the better choice of the two, as between Fallout 3 and New Vegas, well, he's already played the better game.

I would say Fallout: New Vegas.
Borderlands was a fun game, but it was very shallow. Do you like repetitive fetch quests? Do you like fighting the same three or four enemies re-skinned throughout the entire 40+ hour experience? Do you like "new" guns being a re-colored model of the exact same guns you've been using since the beginning of the game but with slightly better stats each time? Then go ahead and get Borderlands because those are literally the only things you will be doing the whole time.
On the other hand, New Vegas has some actual substance to it. It's very similar to Fallout 3 but other than the setting New Vegas is far ahead in quality. The story is better, there are more weapons, there's a better cast of characters, the writing is better, etc, etc. I could go on for a while.
No matter which one you choose to purchase you will definitely get a good game. Both are high quality titles that have provided myself and many other people with countless hours of fun. But if you have to choose between them then its no contest. They are in completely different leagues.

Both games are great but I would go with Borderlands for now since you can find GOTY editions with all the DLC for dirt cheap.
I am personally waiting for a GOTY edition of New Vegas before I buy it. I loved Fallout 3 (about 250 hours of love
) and played all the DLC but the little bit I played of New Vegas at a friends house just felt like more of the same. Not saying that is a bad thing just I have so many games to play I don't think it will matter if I play New Vegas now or next year.

Borderlands is the complete and utter bomb, I finished it (and its first 2 DLC's) on the 360, and just recently got it on PC and plan on doing it all again, SO AWESOME!
