I'm tired of hearing that, the last machine to come out was almost a year now. I just read an article still referring to them as the next generation. Wii/360/Ps3 are all THIS generation. Anyone else annoyed by this? Maybe I'm just feeling sassy cause I have a few beers in me.
On a side note I can't wait for Sony to announce its next gen system, the PS4 or whatever in a few years being well before their supposed 10 year life cycle the ps3 has.

I'm afraid I can't agree with you there. I can't wait for Sony to announce that there will not be a PS4 with all thier recent problems.Yackom wrote:On a side note I can't wait for Sony to announce its next gen system, the PS4 or whatever in a few years being well before their supposed 10 year life cycle the ps3 has.

To be fair, the PS3 came out November 11, 2006. It's August 10, 2007. Not quite a year.Yackom wrote:I'm tired of hearing that, the last machine to come out was almost a year now.
Why should we be afraid to call the Dreamcast dead? We know the console didn't get as long or popular a run as it should have. We know the overall library was not as large as it could have been despite some legendary titles. The console hasn't been produced commercially for years. Whatever life is there is made up of a few niche titles from independent coders; even the most popular titles you would be hard pressed to find at any brick and mortar store. I am gonna make up some figures and say the game industry is ten batrillion dollars per year spent on 800 zillion hours of gameplay, and that the Dreamcast accounts for .0000007% of that cash and .000000004% of that play time. There will always be people like us playing every imaginable old gaming system, and even weirder people intermittantly making a game for it, but are we going to say that every console ever produced will never die? Then the term "current" or "last gen" is moot, if everything is and will forevermore be current. We are the still-growing hair and fingernails on the corpse of the Dreamcast, soon we will just be the worms and bacteria. Does the fact we are the minority diminsh the console itself?
