I was wondering how old the average retro gamer was. As in, people who actively play and enjoy retro games, and the fact that they are retro. I'm also wondering how old each of you individually are.
So what age group do retro games appeal to anyway?

I'll be 29 later this month. I played my first video game at age 5 (Duck Hunt on the NES) and got my first video game console for my 6th birthday (NES with Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt). I was always extremely interested in video games and the same is true for today.
I bought and played new games for most of my life, and occasionally I would sell my old games. It wasn't until sometime in my 20's that I wanted to go back and play the really old games again. I bought a lot of the games that I sold when I was a kid and now I can say that I prefer retro games to modern ones.

I'm 17 now, but I got into the retro stuff when I was 14, starting with the Genesis. there was something about the system that intrigued me, and that's coming from a huge Nintendo fan. Once I bought my first model 1 for $15, there was no turning back. I'm happy to also have a NES, SNES, N64, and Dreamcast in my retro collection, along with the Wii.

I'm 16. I wouldn't consider myself a typical retro gamer though.

I'm 17, turning 18 in three months. I played retro stuff when I was a small child, when it wasn't retro yet, and never really stopped. But I didn't get into it outside of PC stuff until I bought an N64 when I was 12. Most retro stuff I like is from the 90's. 80's stuff doesn't appeal to me quite so much, and I'm completely uninterested in anything before the NES. Basically, I like stuff made when I was alive best, which is probably true of most people, except that I don't stop liking said things once they get old and fall out of the mainstream.

I'm twenty years old and most the of the retro games I'm interested in are on the Playstation and to a slightly lesser degree the Genesis.
And to go along with what's already been kind of said - retro gaming is built upon nostalgia. So obviously whatever system or games you grew up with are going to be the ones you like the most and collect (though there are exceptions). Sometimes it's a matter of taste too, and what type of games you like. I like RPG's and thus I like enjoy collecting for the Playstation which was sort of the console of my generation after the Genesis and SNES. Genesis I'm still getting into as now I'm becoming more interested in shooters and fighters.

I'm 23. I just stuck with retro games because everything was becoming noticeably shitty. Not much else to it than that, I guess.
