Wood R4 Kernel questions

Post by vlame »

Is there a list of cards that can use wood R4 firmware? I want to buy the cards from Priceangels but I have no idea which to get. DSiXL functionality would be preferred and 3DS would be good but not needed.

You want THIS one. If you're looking for it on other sites, it's the one made by the r4ids.cn team. It's (key word) *officially* supported by Wood. Wood was built for the original (not one of the hundreds of clones) R4. If you want guaranteed compatibility and what have you, get the one I've linked you to. Playing around with one of those clones will only make you miserable.

I was thinking of keeping it in the $5-6 range here
I know there are other cards wood supports.

The key is *official* support. Wood only officially supports the *original* R4, R4iDSN and R4i Gold (specifically the r4ids.cn version). If you want to throw your lot in with a clone to save a few dollars, you get what you pay for.

It's just the other supported R4 version.

That's got nothing to do with wood, it's the hardware. They support microSDHC up to 32gb. You'll want at least a class 4, if not a class 6 -- unless you don't care about slowdown in a few games here and there.

The original R4 only supports regular microSD, you'll need the Gold if you want microSDHC.
