bernie thinks he was like a rockstar! he thought he could not be brought down. He may have had an infated head, and he thought he could do no wrong.

His ideas may have been right in principle but the business of videogames did otherwise.

Of course the house of sega was messed up to begin with! For him to fix sega was like trying to live in a condemned house and fixing it at the same time! Even if the house is somewhat fixed its still gonna have problems.

this may be wild speculation on my part, but he may have tried to reboot the gaming industry, like nintendo did back in the mid 80's with the nes. He may not have wanted rpgs in the console cause he wanted "normal joe" the new gamer to enjoy videogames, and rpgs aren't easy for the newbie. He may have had the idea of casual games? Kinda like what the wii did.

Like I said this is speculation on my part, so dont take this the wrong way.

Like in the game Fable, one isnt truly heroic or villanous, so Bernie Stolar is like that.

Titles like 'Hero' or 'Villain' imply too much competence. The guy was an arrogant loon who didn't take his consumer base seriously, made unilateral decisions with impunity, and ran an otherwise solvent company into the ground.

In short: A total ass-hat.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Bernie Stolar was the Bobby Kotick of his time. I remember, back in those days, him being the reason I didn't get a Saturn despite desiring with all my heart the (Japanese) line-up of games.

Stolar is remembered for remarking at the 1997 E3, two years after the Saturn's release, that "the Saturn is not our future" and that he would not allow Namco to release new Tekken games on the Saturn in North America during a televised interview.
Villian.
He fucked over the Sega Saturn in the US. He took the greatest video game console of all time and managed to make U.S. kid's lasting impressions this.

why, just not one hour ago I saw a friend of mine on Facebook link to a review of Dragon Force he wrote and one of the comments read:
" The problem is he Saturn is such a poorly designed system (I wouldn't be surprised if Duck Tape was part of the designed). So they basically have to remake all the games if they are going to put it on a downloadable system."

I, of course, stuck up for my beloved Saturn, noting it runs quiet as a mouse and cool as a cucumber with no vents in the casing and will outlive every 360 and PS3 on the market today, but unfortunately this is the impression US kids have of the Saturn. that it's a piece of shit.
Considering the love it received in Japan, it's a real shame the undeserved bad reputation it garners in the U.S.

Fuck Bernie Stolar. Fuck him up his stupid ass.

thank you all for your comments.

i've benn meaning to make this video for some time and the reason is well no one at leat on youtube has done a video talking about Bernie Stolar. i think when it came to the saturn he did not see any reason to keep it going and it's a shame, i dont think the saturn ever had a chance of overtakeing the playstation or n64 but it could of and was a good solid 3rd place system and there were plenty of great 2d games form the arcade, to jrpg's to port to the system and it should of been the game system of choice for them type's of gamers.

but i do think Bernie Stolar did a good job in promoting the dreamcat and geting a lot of interest from people and devlopers who would not of.

once again thank you all for watching my video and for leaveing comments
