Stripped Mini Screw Extractor? Size of Dual Shock screws?

Post by Lodestar »

I need a mini screw extractor so that I can open up my Dual Shock and swap some things out because the screws are stripped.

Also, I'd like to know what size screwdriver I need for future reference. What started as a simple mod to swap out a d-pad and some mushy buttons turned out to be much worse, now I have one controller I can't open, and another I can't put back together because the screw holding the PCB board in is stripped.

Any help would be appreciated and perhaps a guide on how to put a Sony DS back together.

A #1 has too thick a shaft, so you have to use a #0. I dunno if they make screw extractors that small though. You could slowly and carefully drill off that stripped head so the shell will open, then use pliers to take the rest out once you've got it apart. Just do a little at a time so you don't drill all the plastic lip out too.

Google.... and always take notes, make drawings, or take pics when disassembling anything, unless your a masochist or have a photographic memory. I also second carefully drilling out the screw.
