What the hell happened to Backloggery?

Post by J T »

It's ugly! And slow! And sloppy!

For some reason they decided to update the design to something terrible. There are all of these oversized icons now and it looks sloppy as they spill over the lines, especially on Internet Explorer, though FireFox isn't much better. They've also made it so your games lists come in chunks and you have to click a button to see more of the list. I hate that. I like to be able to scroll down my entire list of games for a system if I'm looking for one. I don't want to have to click through 6 screens to finally find the game I'm looking for. I feel like I wasted my time putting all my games into that site because I don't want to visit it any more.

It is pretty bad. To me it honestly looks like a site designed for preschoolers or something. It just looks really childish and goofy...

I like when sites don't change.

It doesnt seem any slower than usual to me. I also don't mind the new style with the exception of the games list - I wish all the consoles games were grouped in one box rather than an individual box for each game. Otherwise I'm perfectly happy with it.

The site remakes been coming for a long time, I think the lists only loading partially is to minimise the pressure on his server, because he's been having a lot of trouble with the site going down.

Looks fine to me. Just don't use bad web browsers like IE or Firefox.

I just checked it out and honestly prefer the new look. I'm not having any trouble navigating it and I think it's easier on the eyes.

I'm not seeing some of the problems JT listed so I wonder if it was still in progress when the OP was made and I'm seeing a more polished version now.

Sites changing are a huge pain in the ass, and this one is no exception. While I like the stealth delete button, the lack of controller images behind system names sucks, and that looks boring compared to the over-the-top logos and stuff.

And I agree with the games in chunks thing. That's just stupid, even if it has a ~justifiable~ reason.

I guess it's a good thing I keep up with this and RF. >_>

If it has a justifiable reason, that would make it the exact opposite of stupid.

I think Pichu meant to put justifiable in quotes.

I would think keeping the site running stably is more than justifiable.
