RCA to VGA converter question

Post by kelsoanim »

Hey guys, I know there have been a lot of threads like this one, but I have a specific question. On my LCD TV composite signals look pretty bad. All of the pixels have some "tearing" with slashes of them jutting out the sides. This is most noticeable on older systems like the NES. I don't want to buy a CTR because I don't have the space.

What I'd like to know is would this simple composite to VGA converter do the job for me and clean up my picture?

I know it is just a converter and not an upscaler, though it does support multiple resolution output configurations. Would this clean up the pixels (even just a bit) enough so I wouldn't have to get a CRT or mod my older systems to output S-Video?

I think it would work, tho not as good as a more expensive piece of hardware. At least the one I got does OK. If it supports multiple output resolutions it is an upscaler. Mine looks mostly the same on my 1280x1024 LCD monitor no matter the resolution but the "blur"/bilinear scaling it uses is not that great. Compared to most bigscreen LCD's RCA display routines That apply filters and noise reduction to make regular tv pictures more natural it does look OK of you adjust the settings right. For the price it's worth a try to see if you like it.
