did any one else's Toys R Us do this?

Post by jay_red »

I just remembered back when I was in like the 6th grade 99-00 ish I think, my friend and I ventured to our local TRU and they were selling NEW game gears that were being reproduced by a company I cant remember the name of. I remember there being a difference on the front, where a normal game gear has those 3 color marks near the name, these had 3 white marks. I picked one up (having always wanted one when I was younger) and the screen was all scratched up, so i exchanged it for one that wasnt much better.

Not only that but they had a bin full of genesis games, it was only a few different ones, but it was a lot of them. I believe the games were Contra Hard Corps, Castelvania Blood Lines, a golf game, and a helicopter game. And they were dirt cheap. But then we came back one day and they told us to take as many as we wanted for free, so my friend and I had this stock pile of unopened games that we had no use for.

So now that I remember that they had all of this, did any one else have this happen? Where did all this stock come from?

The Majesco Game Gear. Those things are pretty boss. I hear their screens are superior to those on the original Game Gear.

That said though, I've never had a store just give free games to me.

Yeah that was the name of the company! Thanks for letting me know that it was a superior version, seeing as i got rid of it a long time ago, and only have an original one that the screen has to like "warm up" on lol.

Yeah we were really surprised about the free games, but we left with bags full of them.
