Size limit on shipping items from US?

Post by winds »

Hey guys,
I am interested in buying a cardboard game store display that is about 6 feet tall , 3 feet wide, and 10 inches thick. I am in Toronto, Canada, and the seller is in Michigan. However they are telling me they looked into shipping the item to Canada but alas it's too big. I was wondering, is there a limit on size for shipping items from the US?
I've had a similar sized item shipped to me from Japan so I don't see how it can't be shipped from the US, as long as I pay for the full shipping costs.
Has anyone heard of this?
Thanks!

You can ship -anything-. You can even ship a bloody elephant, but you have to do it on a special climate controlled cargo plane. :D

Sounds more to me like maybe the seller thinks shipping to Canada is a pain. I wish sellers would quit that -- shipping here is NOT a pain! You have to check one little box on a form and write a short description for customs, it won't kill you. We know we have to pay more, that's OK.

In short, no, I've never heard of any size limit.

They're probably also being dumb and thinking they have to ship this 6 foot long thing via USPS. I guarantee the standee was originally folded up in a box that was no more than 4x4 feet when it was sent out originally. It will already have some folds from that, so they should probably be able to disassemble it and fold it smaller for shipping. USPS might not take it that large. UPS or FEDEX probably will, but of course shipping cost will suck. :(

*oops typo*

Haha thats what I figured as well. It is a little annoying, seeing as how i'm closer to him than most people in the US :(. I emailed the seller back asking if they can use a different courier. If they think it's too much of a pain I wonder if someone on here close to Michigan will be able to act as a middle man to ship the item to me? haha. Worth a shot :P
