Virtual Drive Program

Post by Chocobito »

Hi, I use Daemon Tools 3.47 (Yeah, old version but without a simple adware like actual version  ) for my ISO mount needs in emulation.

Do you know other alternative and maybe better program that do the same. Thanks.

I used Daemon Tools Lite (the free version) for the longest time until others have told me newer versions suck. I switched to Virtual Clone Drive for a while. Both are great. But honestly, I switched back to Daemon Tools Lite because I like it better. They both do the same thing, I just like Daemon's interface a tad bit more.

What's this adware you talk about though? I have the newest version as of a few months ago, it's just like it was from a few years back when I first started using it. There's no difference that I can tell. No adware or anything like that.

I use this program too and i don't remember seeing any ads before. Nifty little program too. Seems to work alright for me.

Softpedia say about the new Daemon Tools:
"Reasons why this program is marked as ad-supported:

· Offers to change the homepage for web browsers installed in the system
· Offers to change the default search engine for web browsers installed in the system
· Offers to download or install software or components (such as browser toolbars) that the program does not require to fully function"

I know that this things are optional in the installation but I prefer the old and clean version of Daemon Tools for now.

I gonna try VirtualCloneDrive, thanks for the suggestion. :)

Oh, is that why? Yeah, I really don't care about that. Just have to uncheck a few boxes when installing, no big deal. Plenty of programs do this.

Anyways, both are solid programs. Virtual Clone Drive is just as good as Daemon Tools Lite or vice versa. I switched back to Daemon because I was use to it. With Daemon, you have to left click the tray icon, Clone Drive is right click. But yeah, it's hard to say which is better.

I used Dtools 3.47 until 7 Pro had a fit about it. So I grabbed Magic Iso and it works very well.

I've used all these mentioned at some point and I have no opinion about one being any better than the other. MagicISO seems less polished but works fine.
