I guess this just came out, and it seems its not completely finished yet.
It takes Sonic 2 and mimics Sonic Heroes, with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all playable at the same time. You can switch between them at will. Plus, as you can see in the video, Amy shows up to fly the biplane in Sky Chase. Cool stuff.
This is the final video of a playthrough, but the earlier ones can all be found there too.

I thought it was pretty slick.

Re: Sonic 2 Heroes (Sonic 2 hack)
Why would anyone want to place one of Sonic Heroes' worst elements into one of the best Sonic games around on purpose?

Re: Sonic 2 Heroes (Sonic 2 hack)
Well its not like it plays at all like Sonic Heroes.
All this really does is give you access to all three characters and their abilities at the same time. Missed a higher route as Sonic? Go back as Tails or Knuckles and get back up there. No biggie.
Honestly, as hacks go its incredibly minor. I just thought it was a neat idea.
Plus, at this point I'm kinda bored of Sonic 2, and especially bored of people worshiping it (I would have preferred this hack being done on Sonic 3 for instance), so anything that freshens it up a bit is ok in my book.
Plus, yo, I liked Sonic Heroes.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

This is really cool. When I was a kid I always wished you could change the teamups to tails with sonic following or knuckles with tails. It'd be cool if they made this work on segacd like sonic megamix.
