Mortal Kombat 9

Post by darthmunky »

Okay so it's officially out! Who has it and what do you think so far? I have it pre-ordered but didn't pick it up yet. I'm still unsure if I should get it for PS3 or Xbox 360. I want Kratos but I don't know anyone who's getting it for PS3 and I only have one controller...

Did I see Kratos in the commercial? I usually don't like these stupid, crossover cameos(like the ones in the Soul Calibur games), but Kratos is a perfect fit for a mortal kombat game

Yes, it was quite widely reported that the PS3 would have Kratos.

Unfortunately, he's only on multiplayer. You can't play him in the arcade mode.

Got it today for PS3.

Completed the tutorial mode which was actually pretty good for showing you how to play.

Played about 30 min of the story mode, and its pretty fun. Love how Johnny Cage gets portrayed. Hes always been my favorite character so its good to see him be a jerk, but a likeable jerk. Sonja's costume is a bit much, I don't mind seeing Kitana dressed like a skank, but Sonja should be a bit more classy.

Also cool to hear Richard Epcar as Rayden.

Gameinformer gave it a 9.5/10 Platinum Award. I'm definitely interested in it, but will probably wait for a price drop.

I ended up getting it for PS3. I don't know anyone who's getting it for either system anyway and the d-pad on ps3 is much better for fighting games. Played it for a few hours, got passed the MK1 point in time and unlocked a bunch of krypt items. I love the Scorpion klassic costume. I'll prob buy the others.

I completed the story mode just now. It was surprisingly long and fleshed out, the writing was really good. The game is awesome for sure.
