big news guys!!! GameSpite Quarterly #8 (including me)

So I thought I'd finally announce on the blog that I'm now a contributor to GameSpite Quarterly. Perhaps you longtime readers may recall that one of my earliest blog posts was talking up the amazing first issue which was devoted entirely to the history of the Game Boy. Well, number eight is all about the PlayStation. And it's a gigantic book filled with plenty to keep you busy with.

The article I wrote about Battle Arena Toshinden can be read here: http://www.gamespite.net/toastywiki/ind ... aToshinden

I also wrote brief write-ups on Policenauts, RPG Maker, Strikers 1945, Thrill Kill and the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games. The books can be ordered in paperback or hardcover here: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2108683

Hey awesome. Parish and the folks over at Gamespite do some great work. Congrats on getting in on that. I haven't gotten to that article yet, but will make it a priority.

The Talking Time forums are also super informative.

yeah, I've been a big fan of GameSpite and Retronauts for a long time, so this was a really huge deal to me.

Really cool. I love their articles, they're always well written and bring something different to the table rather than the usual "graphics are good, it's fun" reviews.

my copy of GSQ8 arrived today. It's really amazing...pushes nearly 450 pages. Sadly, due to a mistake, my big Battle Arena Toshinden article is not credited to me -- a typo we thought we caught before it went to press. But all my other contributions have my byline.

At any rate, this book is incredible. And I'm not just saying that cuz I'm in it. GameSpite has always been impressive, but this is the first (that I know of) serious attempt at culling the PlayStation into a singular tangible history. And it really does an amazing job at that. This is the kind of book just awesome enough to pull my attention away from games (and forums) for an extended period of time. I honestly suggest it to all PS1 enthusiasts and collectors.

Awesome! Your article brought me back to when the PS1 was the first console I could call my own. I got mine a little later so it had the interactive 6 sampler disc. I played the Bloody Roar demo like crazy demo until I could afford an actual copy of the game.

Congrats on becoming a contributor!
