Have any of you noticed original xbox controllers not holding up as well as controllers for other systems? I'm having trouble with mine.
Also, do any of you know of good 3rd party controllers available for the original xbox?

Re: Original Xbox Controllers
Yes, I have several Xbox controllers with either mushy buttons or sticky d-pads. They probably just require a cleaning.

Re: Original Xbox Controllers
yes i agree from personal experience i went through way more xbox controllers than the ps3 , n64, snes, genesis, and saturn controllers.
Also the trend seems to be with the 360 also. I went through totall of 3 360 controllers and havent had any issue with my ps3 controller yet.
Usually the problem with the original xbox controller is the buttons would get stuck or lose. The analog gets lose and the r triggers get lose.
As for the 360 controllers its same thing as the original xbox controllers.
Overall my experience with gaming controllers i have to say the ones that broke down the most was the Xbox, Xbox360, and the Nintendo 64 controllers. All the other game systems controller i own usually works well .

Re: Original Xbox Controllers
I've only really experienced this with the "S" Xbox controllers, as my original "Duke" controller still works very well for me. I've noticed it extensively in my 360 controllers, though.

Same here. Not to hijack this thread (though I guess it's related), but any tips on cleaning and maintaining 360 controllers? They seriously "feel" dirtier than say, my old SNES/Genesis/etc controllers which have been around for ages. The white doesn't help either, there's just dust/dirt buildup of something all over my wired 360 controller that I've had for a few years, and it's a bit nasty to hold since it's so easy to feel. lol...
Also the joystick is funked, it's got that issue of occassionally being stuck in an up position... not with the physical controller itself, but I figure it's heavy use has messed it up internally or something. IE I'll play games and the camera will look down on its own, or more lately sometimes it messed up when I'm playing SoRR on my PC and it'll make my characters keep walking up. Extremely annoying, and the Y/B buttons get a bit sticky too.
I love the controller layout, but seriously they don't seem to stand up to time very well.

Re: Original Xbox Controllers
I've never had a controller wear out on me on any system. My N64 came with a controller that had an analog stick that was somewhat worn, but nearly 5 years later, after extensive use, the stick isn't really any worse than when I bought it. And none of the 3 Xbox controllers I've owned ever had issues.

Re: Original Xbox Controllers
I havent really had any bad experiences with the official controllers, but sometimes the start button gets stuck on both controllers I had. I normally use a third party controller that has the black and white buttons in the spots where the bumpers would be, like a 360 controller. I think it's Pelican, but I'm not sure.

Other than my "Duke", which always goes left, I have never had issues with any Xbox or 360 controllers.
