Hyperkin announced a new handheld system that will play your old SNES cartridges, dubbing it the Supaboy. The handheld comes with a slot on top to insert a cartridge, all the buttons featured on the SNES controller, and a 3.5 inch LCD screen.

The handheld also comes with an AV stereo out, as well as two ports on the front of the machine that you can plug original SNES controllers into and play on your TV. As of now the Supaboy will only play US cartridges, with no UK PAL release announced. System is due out in the summer.

I'll be interested in hearing the reviews on this.

OMG, I NEED this.

I was going to buy the FC Go 16 at some point but this looks really nice too. I wonder how the compatibility is with games such as Super Maio RPG since I know the FC-Go has some problems.

Do you have anymore information or potential places to buy?

interested in reviews and price. If itll work as a cheap and small replacement for a SNES, well I am game. The two controller ports on it just makes me happy. They might have got it right.

I hope they make a Super Famicom version for Japan and Europe. I had to mod my FC-16 Go in order to play my games on it.

Oh yes, this thing would do nicely.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Cool.

I might be interested depending on reviews and price.

The reception for Genmobile (made by the same company) was a mixed bag, so I guess we'll see how this turns out.

According to the Hyperkin employee in this video, it does play Super Famicom games and is also compatible with games that use the FX chip. I really like the locking mechanism to keep the cartridge in place. I had to use velcro on my FC-16 GO in order to keep the cartridges firmly in place.

Pretty cool device. I will probably get one. (^_^)

I already though this thing looked cool, but this doubles my interest.
