Need help with hacking PSP Fat 6.31

Post by cabrando »

So I'm leaving for vacation this week and have a long flight so I thought I would put some emulators on my PSP. 3 hours later and I'm lost, going in circles.

I have a Fat PSP w/ 6.31. I don't have the time or the knowledge to get a Pandora battery. Can I make this happen before my flight? Anyone have a good tutorial to follow?

This page helped me the other day:

http://wololo.net/wagic/cfw-for-dummies ... -psp-2000/

Scroll down, there's a section for doing it without Pandora.

If you're still having trouble after looking at that, there's a user here, avrame, who's pretty experienced with the psp hacking thing. Consider talking to him about it, I'm sure he'll help you.

^yup. Without looking, it SOUNDS like you wanna upgrade to OFW 6.35 and then use the 6.35 PRO HEN. Just follow the tutorial on that page above.

Hehe, sounds like I've made a name for myself :)

But what they have listed is all means correct. No need to make a pandora battery anymore, as LCFW or CFW achieves the same method as what you are aiming for.

With the HENs like TN-HEN or PRO, you;ll have to run an additional executable everytime you'll want to boot the psp into HEN (Homebrew ENabled) mode. This mode persists until the PSP's battery is drained, the battery is removed or the system is power cycled (power switch is held for 3 seconds). Regardless of what people using older pandora methods say, booting into HEN mode is easy and painless, it just like booting FMCB to load a game on a PS2.

Now, you mentioned that you have a PSP v1 (fat). With that, if you really want to, you can flash that guy with a permanent TN-Hen, thus avoiding having to boot an extra executable. Totally your choice, works for me on my v2, but booting the exe is fine if you want to not take the risk to brick your system when flashing the kernel.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

Woohoo! Almost there, I have the custom firmware installed now, I downloaded the GBA emulator avrame's link and extracted it. I got the gba bios. Now how in the world do I install the emulator? Usually there is a subfolder to put the roms in, but I don't see it.

yeah just make a sub-folder for yrself. Also remember that this emu menu (like many of them) use O for YES and X for NO, sort of backwards from what yr used to.

So far so good, I love that you can customize the buttons.
