The "April Fools Everyone!" OR "Dave is an asshole" thread

Yesterday (April 1st) I posted my "ENTIRE COLLECTION" for sale at really insane prices and cited "personal" and "family" reasons for needing to raise $15K+ fast. Bargains included things like Ibara, Chrono Trigger, MUSHA, Lunar 1 + 2, or Radiant Silvergun for $10-$25 each, A CDX or Turbo Duo for $100, etc.

As those of you who contacted me found out, it was an April Fool's Day Joke

I'd like to thank the many Racketeers who bought in hook, line, and sinker. You made my April Fool's day a great one, and I hope you got a good chuckle too.

On the one hand I felt a *tiny* bit bad for misleading and manipulating y'all, but on the other it was rewarding to see so many people willing to help me out. Of course, some of you were VERY willing to help out to the tune of buying $100 games for $15

So yeah, I am a twisted asshole who likes to play mean-spirited April Fool's Day jokes on people. (Though I sorta tried to drop a hint that it was a April 1st gag with the italicized text at the bottom, the stupid prices, the $100 GBASP, etc.). Anyway, be sure to be on the lookout next year...or the one after...

Ok, so I ended up with a family situation where I need to raise a LOT of money ($15K +) very quickly, and the best way I can think of to do that is to sell off the video game collection

Rather than post everything here, you can check out my mostly up to date collection at RFGen (username "dsheinem") and see pictures of a chunk of it in my collection thread.

In order to expedite everything and avoid haggling, I decided to just set some base prices for everything. These prices apply regardless of the game you are interested in, unless you really want to pay more. That's right: Killzone 3 is as cheap as X-Men Origins Wolverine, Iggy's Wrecking Balls is as expensive as Super Mario Kart, and FF7 is as cheap as FF8.

All PS2/DC/GCN/Xbox non shmup/RPG: $10 each
ALL PS2//GCN/DC shmup/rpg games: $25 each

I'll be honest I was a bit tentative about posting the joke thread and trading on past good will...but everyone who PM'ed me was very good humored about it after finding out. I had suspected people would probably be, but not knowing for sure made me a little nervous...

Bottom line: I knew this was a great community - now I also know that most of you can take a (twisted) practical joke

I think so long as it is vague enough, all is well. Dave's was done well enough that we can't even call him an asshole, he did just enough to stoke concern, but not enough to say he crossed a line, well done.
