Racing games for the DS

Can anyone suggest a good racing game for the DS that isn't Mario Kart or similar?

I played Ridge Racer DS over the past few days and it's left me with a sour taste and I was wondering if there were any racing games for the DS that just don't plain suck.

I had heard that Speed Racer: The Movie was pretty good, so I picked it up cheap at Target and really enjoyed it. It's a bit on the easy side, but unlike most DS racers, it actually controls well, and has a fast framerate. It's been described in reviews as the closest thing to F-Zero you can get on DS, which is pretty apt, with its rollercoaster-style track design and mild car combat elements.

Ah! I'll check it out. Saw my brother playing it some years back on his DS but didn't think to pay attention to it at the time. Thought it was just another lame licensed game or something. Thank you very much.

I guess it's a bonus I actually liked the movie...

I never found one I liked, but stay away from Asphalt Urban GT - it is one of the worst racing games Ive ever played, and I loved the three GT racing games on the GBA.

Unfortunately, you really won't find much in the way of good racing games.

Mmm, I could say Diddy Kong Racing DS; however, it's obviously similar to Mario Kart.

Well there's always the Fzero games on GBA if you have a DS or DS Lite. You're SOL if you have a DSi though.

If you do have the ability to play GBA games, then I'd recommend Racing Gears Advance.

Grand Theft Auto has racing elements.

Oh yeah, that's a good game as well. The GT Advance games on GBA are pretty good too.
