Later Dreamcast versions + PAL Shenmue II

Post by Insomniac34 »

So I just bought a brand new Dreamcast off eBay, and it will obviously be one of the later versions. Right now I'm in the process of buying a copy of Shenmue II and I'm hoping I'll be able to play it on my new DC. Now, I'm pretty sure one can DL a boot disc and burn it onto a CD-R, and use that to play PAL games on an NTSC version of the console. Is that true? If so, would I have any problem using the CD-R boot disc on my newer-version Dreamcast to play the PAL version of Shenmue II? Or would I have to get something like DC-X?

Thanks to anyone who can answer my question, I appreciate it.

(And before anyone says anything about why I bought a brand new Dreamcast when used ones are so much cheaper, I wanted one that was in excellent condition, would last me a while, and I didn't have to fear a worn out disc drive and having it crap out on me too soon like my first DC :))
