Tiger handhelds

Post by J T »

Remember these crappy things?

Well, now you can play them in your browser at this slick website and remember how bad they were!

Hah! This is great. I had a whole drawer of these crappy things back in the day. For starters;

The Bo Jackson 2-player unit, The Shadow, Double Dragon, Some boat game, Sonic, and God only knows what else :)

I'm pretty sure the attraction for me was the lovely art on the front bezel. Your dreams are shattered when you press the on/start button.

Shame no Sega classics like outrun and shinobi, but this site kicks major butt and will be featured soon enough on Kotaku. It will come to that!
Even high scores. I got a high score of 1 on Donkey Kong jr. yipeeeeeh.
Thanks J T

I do remember these, I remember them always being the gift you pretended to think was really cool when you got one for your birthday/Christmas. I did actually remember having some fun playing them. Once the batteries died the second or third time they would end up in some basket of toys and forgotten.

I also think that I never owned one of these that I managed to keep the battery cover with, those got lost in our house so easily.

At Classic Gaming Expo this year there was a booth with a shit load of these selling them for $20+ a piece. Is there a collector market for these? My girlfriend wanted to get a Beauty and the Beast one (she's a collector herself) but it was $30, which is way too steep considering what you are getting. Are they considered "retro" now?

These are the one I rememebr having:

Awesome, I had the Street Fighter and Sonic Spinball you pictured above. They were both horrible in an awesome way :lol:

Had quite a few of these myself. I loved them, I remember playing this Batman one a lot in particular. Same with the Castlevania one.
