WonderCon 2011 is coming up next weekend. I have went the last several years and it's had some cool stuff for comics and gaming. It's in San Francisco which is great so I don't have to travel very far and cheap tickets!!
It is held at the Moscone Convention Center near the Metreon on Powell Street.
WonderCon, one of the country's best comics and popular arts conventions, celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2011.
WonderCon offers attendees, professionals, and exhibitors the complete convention experience. A giant Exhibit Hall, exclusive programming from the top comics publishers in the country along with movie and television panels, anime, autographs, games, the Masquerade, and portfolio review all combine to give comics and pop culture fans one of the best conventions out there.
I plan on going Saturday with sevin0seven
Any other racketboy members coming?

I went in '09. The only comic convention I have ever been to, and it was a freaking blast. So much cool stuff to see at the seller's tables: Comics, magazines, action figures, statues, artwork, free promos, etc. Tons of cool costumes to see from the people that dress-up (I wouldn't recommend it, you want to be comfortable, there's lots of walking). You get to see tons of artists, writers, and other celebrities. And you get inside info if you attend the special seminars/interviews. Plus we got a free screening of the latest DC Animated Movie, in it's entirety with trailers for other movies and all like 2 months before it was released, awesome. It was Wonder Woman...yeah, I hear you snickering. I'm not a Wonder Woman fan either, but that movie was still awesome.
My only complaint, but it was a big one, was the crowd. It was insane the amount of people they pack into that place. You were literally pushing your way through crowds of people. Sunday was pretty thinned out, though. But that's because most of the cool stuff has already happened. And some people smelled like a shower was a foreign concept to them, yuck.
It's a shame I haven't been to more. I'm a huge comic fan and have been for pretty much my whole life. It's just that I live a ways away from any big city, so it's a long drive there and back.
just got back from wondercon and my feet are kinda killing me. hang out with Dakinggamer87 and we checked out some soon to be release games, comics, etc. cool stuff. might post a video of the con later..
