I am currently enjoying the 2 Medal of Honor games on the PS1. For early console FPSes, they've held up better than I expected them to. I suppose it helped that they had a control scheme that matched modern console FPS games.
Now I'm considering getting the Medal of Honor games on Gamecube. Were those any good? Anybody here tried them? (I don't have a PS2 or Xbox, if you were thinking of suggesting their versions.)

I played 'Rising Sun' back in the day on the 'cube. I remember enjoying it despite not liking most FPS's.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I remember enjoying the multiplayer mode of Medal of Honour Frontline once when I rented it. I do believe that was added for the GC and xbox version and wasn't in the original PS2 one.toadhall wrote:I am currently enjoying the 2 Medal of Honor games on the PS1. The graphics are obviously far superior to the PS1 games, I rarely master controls on FPS easily, but I recall Frontline being very easy to catch on to. With that said, I never got off the damn beach.
I believe European Assault is supposed to be the best of the 3, but I haven't personally played that one. It was released toward the end of the GCN and is sorta htf unless you want to pay full price on it, which last I looked was like $12 or so. (still not a wallet shredder)

Frontline was the best title of that time frame in the series. The gamecube version may have multiplayer as well. I know the ps2 did not and the xbox did.
Re: Medal of Honor games on Gamecube
Frontline began like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan if I remember. It was a very memorable gaming moment. I played it on PS2, but I imagine the Gamecube is similar.

Yes, just like the private Ryan opening scene, very intense the first few times playing it. Then you figure out where the medpacks are, but there is still one sniper I could never find, I think there were 5 sets of barracks, i'd kill off 4 and then could never get my bearrings and get the 5th before I met an honorable death.J T wrote:Frontline began like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan if I remember. The opening of Saving Private Ryan?
So does that mean the opening to Frontlines is similar to Allied Assault (the first MoH PC game)?

Dudes, Allied Assault was WAY better than Frontline.

I never understood why Rising Sun gets so much shit. It's a decent FPS.Flake wrote:I played 'Rising Sun' back in the day on the 'cube. I remember enjoying it despite not liking most FPS's.
That being said, the best Medal of Honor (and one of my favorite FPSes) is Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. The expansion pack for it is pretty good, too.
