Ubisoft and EA games will no longer have manuals

Hey guys. Let's save money by not making manuals anymore, and we can tell people we are doing it to save the environment! Haha, we are brilliant.

What's that? We should reduce the price because there is no manual? Are you insane? The whole point of this is to trick the customers into paying more for less and still think highly of us.

I have seen artificial grass being touted as the "ecological alternative" to normal grass so yeah...

This is bad for them. It's incredibly dissapointing to pay for a real game only to get a crappy edition that you can reproduce at home. It kind of makes me feel bad, while I still love the huge manuals included with the old PC games.

Well EA also restricts their games to one console online now, so I'm not surprised :?

Nothing new here. Computer programs have been doing this for years.
Obligatory quote of an older similar topic post, I miss the binders!

Dumb idea. Flipping thru manual part of fun of the game. Never see manuals like this again.

Man this sucks. I like having manuals. Didn't realize Ubisoft already did it, but I hope other companies don't follow. I wouldn't be surprised if Activision did the same based on the modern warfare manuals

This is a sign of things to come. They will strip physical media down to bare bones (like a disc in a sleeve) and then we won't even care when they switch to download only. The possibility of this bleak future in part drives my collecting habits.

To me, as far as Ubisoft and EA are concerned, jfrost made the perfect comment:

This is pretty much why PC Gamers are going Steam-only. The advantage/fun of having physical media is being taken away to where gamers just say "What's the point?".
