Changing my location on eBay?

Post by molotovwars »

I've been using eBay from Korea for about the last year or so, and haven't had too many problems, but I can't seem to change my location.

My item locations are all listed as Seoul, South Korea - that's not a problem.

But when I list my items and have to enter shipping prices it still assumes I am located in the United States and that shipping to the US for games should be capped at $4.00. I can ship some games for that price, but not if they are cardboard box games, which then get shipped in a larger outer box.

Is there anyway to change my location and thus remove that "US Shipping" panel? I already state in all my listings that my location is in South Korea and that worldwide shipping is $6.00, but many buyers pay and overlook that, then I have to request an additional $2.00 payment, and I lose $0.36 of that in paypal fees since I have to pay the $0.30 base fee again.

Under: My eBay > Account > Addresses, do you have all three set to be your Korean address? The same applies to your PayPal, have you set your address to your Korean one? Your address needs to be the same in both for eBay not to be a douche.

This happened when I was selling out of Japan. They just changed it to the $4 cap recently, too. (sometime in 2009). To go around this I clicked on "accessories" instead of game software. There is no cap...at least back then there wasn't.

Hmm, looks like there isn't a good solution. I haven't changed all three of my addresses to Korean ones yet. I changed the pick up delivery one to a Korean address, but hmm you say I would need to need to make a new paypal address as well? I've actually been just using the US paypal address which works well because it allows me to covert money back into dollars at a profitable exchange ... though it was a huge pain to get it verified - I had to be on skype with my mom while she did phone calls to Paypal.

I guess I'll just have to send invoices to all of my buyers and maybe I'll look more thoroughly into what I could change for paypal.

Cap on games is $4, accessories is $6, wholesale lots is $9, systems is $15.

Extremely easy way to avoid this, use "calculated shipping" and then add 1lb to the actual weight to cover the weight of the box/packing materials. Yes, it is slightly "more work", but you will never lose money on shipping.

Additionally you can add a "handling fee" on calculated shipping, you can use this to cover supplies, say $1 or $2.

So either use calculated shipping (recommended) or list in the systems or lots category.

To change shipping location, this is done at the bottom of your listing, just before you submit the first page, under shipping options, click the link and a mini-menu pops up where you can change your location, and your name, this is where people list their item from "bargaintown, USA" instead of "Atlanta, GA"
