Dragon Ball Kai Is Ending

Even since Kai began, there were rumors of it ending after Cell since Akira Toriyama "originally wanted to end it there". Then there were rumors of Kai's ratings being low in Japan. Well now it's finally been confirmed that it is in fact ending after the death of Cell. It was confirmed by the Japanese voice actor of Trunks, Takeshi Kusao in a Japanese magazine interview. He said that he hopes, if there is an opportunity, that they can also remake the Majin Buu story arc some day. There are four more episodes left to air in Japan making it end on episode 98 on March 27th, 2011. It has not yet been confirmed whether this was a creative decision or if it was canceled due to poor ratings or financial issues.

I don't know if I'm angry or not, the Buu arc was my least favorite of th entire series but it had some really epic moments I wanted to see Kai'd up. BUT, the Cell ending is very satisfying and conclusive.

I always thought Toriyama wanted it to end after the death of Frieza, with the ascension of Goku to the status of legendary. Seemed like a logical closing point to Goku's story, but I suppose that handing the torch down to Gohan with him going beyond his father makes sense as well. As for Kai, unless it's due to poor ratings or too little in the way of revenue, they should just finish the thing. There's just editing an already existing show, so it's a good bit of work for sure, but it's not like the work is insanely staggering or anything.

I liked the concept of Kai- DBZ minus filler. However, the Buu arc was arguably the weakest, as was everything after Frieza really. Of course, I always liked Dragonball more personally.

I don't like Dragon Ball Z because each episode fiight seen was way too long to watch. I never saw much of the original Dragon ball series and Dragon Ball GT. I didn't have cartoon network for a while years (2000-2003), but I was watching cartoon network on day one. I do like Dragon Ball Z but also hated watching reruns of it. I do plan on watching Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. I barely find out Goku has other kids and I believe grand kids too.

I was thinking that they wouldn't be able to cram ALL of DBZ into around 100 episodes like they'd said. Now that I know that they're ending it after Cell, that makes more sense.
