Will the 3DS sell out?

I was thinking about pre ordering one right now but on gamestop's website but was wondering if anyone thinks it will sell out. I'm not sure if the original DS got sold out but I would think Nintendo would make more than enough for something so anticipated? I mean even if I didn't like it or changed my mind, I can still return it if I haven't opened it right? Thanks, lmk

It'll definitely sell fast. You have to remember it's not just the Nintendo fans who will be tearing these things off the shelves, it's also all those dudes on Craigslist/ebay/and such, who will be buying them up and trying to re-sell 'em on the net at ridiculous prices.

I don't know if it'll sell out exactly. The original DS sold like crazy and was very hard to find, but despite that I snagged one on launch day without a reserve. I had to check several stores, but I got it.

I imagine 3DS will be the same story. Are there any launch day games you actually want though?

After seeing the day one list, I decided to wait on the 3ds. Nothing wrong with the games or anything, just nothing I'm particularly interested in.

Yes the RE-sellers will kill any system launch going forward for real fans, and until buyers get smart and stop paying those prices, the cycle will not stop!

Seriously? I had absolutely no trouble finding a used DS about a month after release. in fact, I found at least one at every Gamestop I visited.

I think nintendo learned their lesson after the the debacle that was the wii launch, and they have made more than enough systems for launch day.

I doubt it. I ended up canceling my pre-order after seeing the launch titles. I'd say give it a couple of months, you'll get used games, possible used system as well. Just keep checking Amazon for console deals, they do business well.

My cousin who lives in Japan just bought one. He said he was able to buy one without any problem without a pre-order though later on the news they said all 3DS systems in Japan were sold out. Oddly enough there's a ton of them on Amazon Japan, though they are marked up $50 over MSRP. Perhaps they were all bought by speculators.
