If you don't mind long load times and missing out on exclusive aes/mvs games then this is fine for you. The games are significantly cheaper.

Please post in the correct forum. Don't just put everything in the General Gaming forum. That's for anything that doesn't belong anywhere else.

Basically this. I would also add that in general, the later the game, the worse the load times, so it might be good to consider which Neo Geo games you're specifically after before you really consider the NGCD. Most people hate the load times on most fighters (expect to spend at least 30 seconds or so between fights [or even rounds in KoF games after '94] for most fighters), but I'm patient enough that I haven't really had that much of a problem with them.

I would say $120 for a Neo CD is the true market value. However, getting people to agree to that is tough.

I say that because a Neo CD just sold on ebay for $40 (with $80 shipping from Japan):

I also bought a Neo CDZ on ebay recently for $147 (plus $10 shipping from the US). That was also an auction and not a buy it now.

So if you search ebay and see people wanting to sell you a Neo CD for $150+80 shipping or a CDZ for $250+80 shipping, don't bite. Just be patient and wait for an auction to role through.

There is one live Neo CD auction right now, I suspect it will go for very cheap:

The shipping is a killer though :( Which is why I waited quite a while to snag a system from a US seller.

The Neo CD gets a bad wrap but it's still a great way to experience the Neo. Nothing after 1999 came out for it, and IMO playing fighters on it is abysmal. But if you are more interested in non-fighters, the CD system is a great way to go. If fighters are your focus, do yourself a favor and get MVS or AES. Nowadays most of the awesome fighters for AES are actually very affordable.

You should pick up the CDZ, if you're looking at just a CD-based Neo Geo It may be a little more in price, but honestly, I owned a Neo Geo CD, and they're alright (the games are really cheap), but unless you but an Arcade fighting stick, they're not that great for fighting, and whenever a match is over, it loads, and loads, and loads, and loads... That's why the CDZ is better, it has a better CD drive for a much quicker loading system. Also, the D-Pads on the CD go bad after a long amount of playing and require disassembling the controller, and cleaning it.

Hope this helps.
