keeping up is a chore

Post by D.D.D. »

Does anyone else find keeping up with gaming news to be a chore these days? There are just so many sites of every kind and I'm finding to be work just to keep up with the news.
I don't wanna get behind so I can be sure to get a pre-order in for something I want or just know about stuff before it comes out and I potentially miss it at the first sale price.
Anyone else finding themselves in this same situation?? :( I'm all ears~

Not quite, since I have my round of websites that I frequent to stay on top of news and sales. However, I feel like keeping up with my backlog is difficult.

Truthfully, I think keeping up with my own curiosity and interest in video games is the problem.

I do spend more time following the industry than playing these days sometimes.

I feel like keeping up with the news is also keeping me from my backlog too. :(

Agreed, keeping up with my Backlog has become almost a chore. I just need to finish off the majority of the games I own now and try to do a better job regulating the rate at which games come into my possession.

I used to feel that way, but now I just go at my own pace. I read Joystiq.com and 4gamer.net once a day just to see what's coming, but I don't feel the need to buy new releases as much as I used to.

I usually don't get around to buying a new release 6 months or more after it's released. Only if it's something I really want, then I'll grab it. If I kept up with every new game I wanted, I'd never ever get around to actually playing them. I only buy a new game at launch if I REALLY can't wait to play it (A Cave shmup or Catherine).

Go your own pace, you are in no rush. Don't worry about missing a 'sale' price, you'd eventually get it used for much cheaper if you just slow your roll.

This is usually the same for me sometimes but now I check N4G usually once a day at night which has all the sites linked from IGN, Kotaku, GamePro, etc. :)

Keeping up with everything really is a chore! So many new games and systems coming out I don't know what to think. I've just kinda given up on new releases and only keep track of single titles I might find interesting. Even then I'll only buy a game right when it comes out if I really, really want it. Otherwise I follow what hashiriya1 said:

I've actually cut down a lot on the sites I go to. I used to be a daily user of IGN and now I only go on it like once a month. I usually get all my current news from Digg. I also watch the IGN Daily Fix podcast.
