Probably. I just think it's amazing that it keeps selling so well. It even surpasses the PSP in some quarters.

agreed. I think it's super impressive. It's sort of like what the SMS was in Brazil, or the Famicom in China. It just keeps ticking. I actually hope it continues to get new (non-sports) releases for a while. I mean you can still buy a brand new PS2 for $99 in pretty much any electronics/dept store.

it's tough to say if Wii or DS or anything else will catch up. A big part of it is that Sony really has kept the PS2 alive as a current console alongside the PS3 and PSP. Instead of letting it die, they've continued publishing games, accessories, etc. Even though PS3 and PSP were their new big top dollar items, Sony's little freebie catalogs and website would still hype the shit out of new PS2 releases just as much.

You really think the Wii could? The DS is the only thing close (8 million units away according to the Wikipedia link below) that has enough life left to overtake the PS2. As for the 3DS I think a PS2/3 could occur where the DS still sells well a while unless Nintendo pulls the plug on it. Given the massive popularity of the DS, relatively higher price of the 3DS compared to DS at launch, and the ability to play DS games on both systems I think there'll be a good chance quality software published for a while after the 3DS launches.
