Sonic + RPG + BioWare + Nintendo DS = Bricks Shat

Post by Mozgus »

"Eggman has the emeralds! Sonic, what do we do?!"
1) Eat chilidogs
2) Collect rings
3) Run fast

Pick one. Begin role playing.

Anyways, it could be an amazing game, considering how well Mario transitioned into the RPG genre.

It could go that route, but it could also go the MMORPG route, with customizable characters. I'm sure they'd want to cash in on the millions of Sonic fursona's swamping the net, so that would be one way to do it.

Lets take everything that is fun about Sonic games OUT and leave all the things we hate.
Sounds like a great plan...

Yeah, let's take a character known for his amazing speed and drop him into an adventure involving turn-based combat and menus! Yes, that's jumping to a pessimistic conclusion, but remember what happened the last time Sega stripped Sonic of his lightning feet?

Never actually seen that game before.
I figured you liked to Sonic Spinball (not terrible) or Sonic Shuffle :)

This could actually work. If they were able to create a fast-paced true to Sonic RPG, I think it'd be great. Hell, it'll prolly be great simply because SEGA isn't working on it alone (Which makes me laugh, but I'm crying on the inside). Hell, if they are able to make a fun and fast-paced RPG, I think it could even revolutionize the RPG world. Then again, I may be saying that simply because I have so little knowledge of RPGs. :P

RGP gameplay-wise, I'm pretty sure it will be ok, but I can stand cutscenes of the existing Sonic games, so unless they are really changing things up, I wouldn't be up for this.

I see it just as another way to use an established brand to sell more games.

But Mario never actually talks in the Mario RPGs.
If they can pull that off with a Sonic game, I would give it a chance.

I'm loving Sonic Rush right now, but I can stand Tails' comments between levels and during boss fights

Wow, so negative in here. Apparently you peoples don't recognise the name "BioWare". Lets just say they know RPGs.

I could give a shit less about directly controlling Sonic anymore. It just doesn't work in 3D. I'd much rather prefer a deep storyline that isn't ballz. Something like that darker cartoon, and NOT something like the Adventure games.

No, I recognize Bioware (KOTOR)
Like I said, the RPG stuff will probably be good, but unless they are taking the animation/style/voice acting in a very different direction, all that will negate most of the gameplay for me.
I'm just wondering how much freedom Sega will give Bioware with the license....

Also, I personally would prefer a Street Fighter RPG or something as opposed to Sonic.
There is a more diverse selection of characters and already a deeper background story.
As it is right now, the Sonic Universe is pretty shallow. At least Star Wars had a lot for Bioware to work with...
