Webcomics!
If you guys didn't know, I'm a pretty big fan of webcomics, and was wondering if you guys were too. I've actually got quite the collection that I've read, and I recommend all of them.
These are all of them that I've read all the way through, in alphabetical order. I'll put an ESRB rating and a little blurb about the comic underneath it. If it's what I'd consider to be a mainstream comic, I'll put an asterisk next to it.
If anyone has any extra questions about any of these comics (like which one should you start with given what you like), just ask and I'll suggest one of these fine comics!
Ones that I've read through since my last post or forgot are bolded.
*Achewood
Rating: M
A story comic about a bunch of stuffed animals living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Unfortunately, updates on it lately have only come about every six to eight weeks.
Amazing Super Powers
Rating: T
Rarely is there a bad comic. These guys also draw the best mustaches.
*Axe Cop
Rating: E
Written by a five year old and illustrated by his twenty-nine year old brother.
Boxer Hockey
Rating: M
A comic about a team from Alabama competing on the international level in one of the most brutal sports ever.
*Brawl in the Family
Rating: E
Not really about Super Smash Bros. Brawl itself, but more about the characters that are in the game.
Buttersafe
Rating: E
Really reminds me of the Perry Bible Fellowship in a lot of ways, except it's more kid-friendly.
*Cyanide and Happiness
Rating: M
Gag-a-day with stick figures. Can be hit and miss, but when they hit, they hit hard. Their videos are all pretty good as well.
*Dinosaur Comics
Rating: E
The comic uses the same image in every comic, with the lovable T-Rex repeatedly causing hijinks.
Great
Rating: E
Story of a man's life, from young age to old. Drawn in a newspaper-style.
*Homestuck
Rating: T
Andrew Hussie has created the biggest clusterfuck of a story by making two universes collide in what I consider one of the best webcomics out there.
Modern Fried Snake
Rating: E
A girl who makes a living by selling fish heads. Made by the same author as Great.
Moe
Rating: E
A plump, idiotic...thing and his little brother try to survive. 80%-90% of the comics are laugh-out-loud funny.
Minus
Rating: E
About the life of a little psychic girl. From the same author as Great and Modern Fried Snake, and the one I'd most highly recommend of the three. It's a shame that it's been ended. A great webcomic for those that haven't read any before.
*Nedroid
Rating: E
Reginald and Beartato (a cross between a bear and a potato) team up in this delightful comic.
*Penny Arcade
Rating: M
If you are on this site and have never read Penny Arcade, do it. Now. It's the definitive gamers comic.
*The Perry Bible Fellowship
Rating: M
A dead comic, but there was recently an update. Almost every comic is laugh-out-loud funny.
*Pictures for Sad Children
Rating: T
This is a really depressing comic. If you're depressed, read this. It'll make you feel better.
Pokemon-X
Rating: M
A sprite comic following three trainers on their journey through Hoenn. Highly recommended for all Pokemon fans.
*Problem Sleuth
Rating: T
Forgot I'd read this one. If you can deal with the "save game" mechanism, you should be good. It's a really interesting storyline.
*Questionable Content
Rating: M
An indie-band fan, his friends, and their many issues.
*A Softer World
Rating: T
A fairly dark comic where the panels are photographs with words posted on top of them.
SpaceBooger
Rating: E
You guys should read this one. Just because.
Super Effective
Rating: E
Another Pokemon comic, this one made by the author of VGCats, though I much prefer SE. Chronicles the adventure of a boy through Kanto.
*xkcd
Rating: M
A comic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. The stick art complements the ideas of the comic very well.

Just because... either that's a strong endorcement or its because I'm a mod
Anyway, thanks for adding mine to the list.
I have to say that I have never heard of A Softer World, but man I really dig it.
Thanks for the list.
Re: Webcomics!
Throwing out a second recommendation for Pokemon-X. I absolutely love the comic. Don't let the current date of the comic fool you, he still updates, he just updates according to the schedule he made for it. Recon is a pretty cool guy too, so patience is worth it.
I'm also going to give a recommendation for Brawl In The Family. It's kind of mainstream and it's a Nintendo-esque comic. The guys that make it truly have talent and are creative. Not to mention the comic is pretty funny. Definitely check it out.

I would rate Penny Arcade "M". They have some pretty strong language in that strip.

Re: Webcomics!
Man, this is a lot of new comics for me to check out. Heres my daily list:
* means not gaming related.
2P Start: Finished now, but was pretty decent videogame webcomic when it still ran.
*Allan: Comic about one guy and his day to day life. I love reading the teen angst and remembering how I too was once an emotional idiot.
Another Video Game Webcomic: Nice little comic about the 'cast' of games that brings up current game issues a lot.
Awkward Zombie: Very Funny gaming webcomic. Lots of pokemon, zelda, smash bros and warcraft jokes, but a bit of some other stuff too.
*Basic Instructions: Hilarious guides on how not to do everything. I recommend this one highly.
Brawl in the Family: Simple jokes based around nintendo franchises, particularly kirby. Charming and pretty amusing.
Digital Unrest: This ones been increasingly hit and miss, but its worth a look. Typical video game webcomic.
*Dinosaur Comics: Regularly hilarious, needed mentioning again.
*Dr.McNinja: Actually, I only just started reading this one, but its pretty funny.
*Dubious Company: Fantasy humour comic about the mishaps of a crew of a pirate, a ninja catgirl, a very feminine elf man, and several others. Plays on anime and fantasy conventions a lot.
Dueling Analogs: Another typical game related webcomic, but that doesn't mean it's not funny - its pretty good.
Fanboys: Stopped updating now pretty much, but it was pretty enjoyable before that.
*Hanna is not a boys name: Great comic about a paranormal detective and his zombie sidekick, with a pretty awesome art style.
*Misfile: Was recommended this one by someone from Smogon. An angel puts some files into the wrong place and accidently turns a boy into a girl and erases two years of another girls life, then gets kicked out of heaven. This comic follows their progress in trying to sort it all out. Not my usual kinda thing, but I started reading and got addicted.
8 Bit Theatre: Finished now, but when it was still going it was a fairly amusing running parody of the final fantasy series in general, but particularly FF1.
*Sinfest: Daily updates, hit and miss, and slightly pretentious sometimes, but fairly entertaining overall.
*Spinerette: Superhero comic about a girl who gets spider powers which arent quite like spidermans. Another one I started recently, really enjoying it.
Virtual Shackles: Gaming webcomic by two people in the industry. Not the best, but pretty good.
*Wayward sons: This is a weird one, I'm not sure if I like it or not. Sci-fi fantasy where the greek gods existed and were the crew of an interstellar starship who accidently gained x-men like powers.
Seconding Penny Arcade, Cyanide and Happiness, Questionable Content, xkcd and super effective, but dont feel I have much to add to whats already been said.

No problem, I actually really like it. If I've taken the time to read through every single comic, then I feel it deserves a place on the list.SpaceBooger wrote:Just because... either that's a strong endorcement or its because I'm a mod![]()

Thanks for the list.
And yeah, A Softer World is definitely a comic that someone can get into. Emily Horne's photography is great, and Joey Comeau always has the perfect thing to say depending on the picture. This is one of my favorites:

Yeah, Recon Dye, Pokemon-X's author, decided to put it on a M-W-F basis and keep it from the day he started to every day he was supposed to do it, even if he skipped a few days. Those few days are now a year.Josh wrote:Throwing out a second recommendation for Pokemon-X. I absolutely love the comic. Also, I'll check out Brawl in the Family, sounds like a cool comic. Thanks.

And alienjesus, I see a few there I haven't read. I've tried to get through Dr. McNinja, but there's something about the art style that prevented me from really getting into it, though I really want to try again. And I've heard good things about Hanna Is Not a Boy's Name and 8-Bit Theatre and would like to read those as well.

Re: Webcomics!
I think there was a prior thread--something along the lines of "what webcomics do you read?"--and I was disappointed back then that I was only one of two posters who mentioned Achewood.YoshiEgg25 wrote:*Achewood

It's subtle and surreal at times, and its humor is heavily character-driven, so you might need to read a lot of strips before you get a payoff. You'll also start to notice a lot of significant details when you re-read the strips.
But that's why it's so great--it's one of the few webcomics that doesn't hit you over the head, and the comics hold up to re-reading like a fine vintage wine.
Edit: the prior thread was entitled "Webcomics," sans exclamation point.
