Would like to change mapping of a SNES to 3DO adapter.

I just got one of these from eBay so I could play Super Street Fighter II Turbo without having to use the Play button as one of my buttons. To my dismay the SNES to 3DO adapter maps the Play button to the Start button on the SNES yet leaves Y unused. Simply I would like to change this, and maps the Play button to Y. So could I do this?
