Into hardware, not so much the games anymore?
Into hardware, not so much the games anymore?
I have to admit; I'm more a fan of collecting hardware than games. I love that I have a Turbo Express with the TV tuner (that's useless now), but have no desire to complete a games collection for the TG-16. Anyone else in this camp?
Consoles owned currently: Lynx model 1, Lynx model 2, TG-16, Turbo Express w/TV Tuner, PS3, PS2, XBox 360, Neo-Geo AES (UniBios), Neo-Geo AES (U), Virtual Boy, PSP, GBA, DS, DS Lite, N64, Saturn, Wii, Mini Neo-Geo MVS (MAME), Asteroids standup, Defender cocktail, Street Fighter II CE dedicated, Neo-Geo MVS 4-25, CPS2 USA system

Caveat; I actually like playing my Virtual Boy. =) I'm willing to admit my weirdness!

Nah, I buy hardware to play games on. If I find I'm not going to play games on a system I get rid of it.
Just wanted to mention that you can buy a VHF transmitter to broadcast a wireless AV signal and watch stuff on your TV tuner.
I got this one. It's a little touchy but works. I use it to pretend I'm playing Xbox 360 games on my Game Gear.

Re: Into hardware, not so much the games anymore?
I can definitely relate to this..
While I still collect a ton of games, and enjoy it as much as ever, I find myself much more interested in reading about hardware and tech-specs in magazines, rather than the latest FPS or motion-sensored game that's coming out..

Tell me about it. I buy system bundles locally when they are cheap then I can never find games cheap. Then I don't want to buy on ebay so I just say f it.
Re: Into hardware, not so much the games anymore?
I still like to play the games, but I'm not much on collecting games. I'm happy with burned CDs or flash carts or whatever gets the game running. I figure if I'm spending money on old stuff, I should at least reward people who are making new and amazing bits of hardware. Although, if a game has some really nice feelies, I will pick it up if the price is right.

I've been there before.
I've owned a PC-FX system for years now and have only played it a total of 3 times. However, I pull the thing out and just look at the console design at least once a month.
