Wii soft mod tutorial?
I'm thinking about attempting to soft mod my Wii, but I have a few questions. Not that I actually do, but would I still be able to play online with a soft modded system? A soft mod will allow me to play backups/imports, right? Will it allow me to do anything else? Where can I find a simple tutorial and links for anything I'll need to download in order to do this? Thank you in advance for all of the help.

First, go here: http://hbc.hackmii.com/
Read all the info in that link, mainly the FAQ, and you'll know almost everything you need to know.
I haven't soft modded my Wii but I have read up on it. I know there's others on this forum that are a lot more knowledgeable on the matter than me, so I stand to be corrected.

Yes, I believe so. And judging by the amount of cheaters I've encountered in Mario Kart and Goldeneye, I'd have to say definitely yes. The problem with the softmods on the Wii is each new firmware upgrade removing the HBC. So going online is fine (as far as I know) but watch out for the system updates.Xelyx wrote:would I still be able to play online with a soft modded system?
I know there's FriiLoader which will allow you to boot imports. I don't know if FriiLoader has become outdated or not. And I know there's other apps that will allow you to boot backups though they have compatibility issues. A hard mod would be a better choice for playing backups. What's better is the ability to load your games onto a hard drive and play them from there instead of a disc.Xelyx wrote:A soft mod will allow me to play backups/imports, right?
Installing the HBC will let you use any homebrew developed for the Wii. This includes playing games from a hard drive, emulators, and whatever other apps the community has developed.Xelyx wrote:Will it allow me to do anything else?
From the link I've provided above.Xelyx wrote:Where can I find a simple tutorial and links for anything I'll need to download in order to do this?
