What the hell is the matter with these guys?
I don't give a damn about the violence, I'm talking about the fact that this has been THE hot button issue for video games since the days of Mortal Kombat.
"Hey guys, everybody hates us because they think we're marketing violent adult games to their children! Here's a good idea! Let's market a violent adult game to children and tell them its cool 'cause mom will hate it! Its bulletproof!"
Sure, maybe they're trying to refer to moms in general. All the women in the commercial are older, one would assume any children they have are grown. But the implication is the same. An adult doesn't care what his mom thinks about his games. The campaign is called "Your mom will hate it". Anybody who takes it to refer to kids will be justified in doing so.
I don't get this. We just had a big supreme court battle over this crap. Its stupid and reckless and inviting trouble.
What do you guys think?

I've only seen the end of the commercial (I'll watch the YT video you linked to when the one I'm watching now is finished.) but I found the URL was kind of funny.
EDIT: I've watched the full commercial now and I still find it kind of funny. I do see what you're saying, it does feel like a step backwards.

But it's nothing new to stir up controversy with the intention of generating sales. Hell, it's a business model for Rockstar. And it's not even new to the survival horror genre, though it backfired horribly where Rule of Rose was concerned. Somebody in marketing happened to think they could sell more copies this way. If it works, it's golden, the company reaps the rewards, and whoever developed the strategy might get a nice bonus, raise, or promotion while gaming once again finds itself dragged through the mud by whoever wants to point to it as a reason why society is so terrible nowadays. If it goes horribly wrong, those interested in the game might suffer from potential bans, especially those not living in the US.

I can tell you it has already worked. I do volunteer work at a youth club and yeah they all want the game because their mums wont like it.
Lets be honest for years now game designers have added dumb things to jack up the rating to 18 because ironically that makes it sell better to kids. Look at the call of duty series, 90% of the game should be 11+ then they add one or two horrible cut scenes and random swearing, and bang its an 18 and all the kids run out and buy it.

Think about this I had a very cool idea. We could start changing "Your mom" into "Your mother in law", particularly on those nasty "You mom" jokes (but also on the "Your mom is a classy lady" one, to be fair).
This advert would then work to sell the game to many married men, I guess.

I understand what the TP is saying, but overall I think the video was suppose to be just some good fun laughing at the over-reacting mothers.

You guys are missing something. These moms are all old. Clearly this is meant to target grown men who live in their parents' basement.

My complaint is that the first game was taken seriously and was one of the best games I've played this generation. I feel like these ads are a slap in the face to people who liked the original in favor of sucking the dicks of people who didn't play it because it wasn't "hardcore" enough (read: slower paced and actual SURVIVAL isn't fun compared to i9nfinite ammo mashing) and didn't have a multiplayer to let you scream and curse at people with.
There's actually only a couple of things that are NEW in DS2. The original had almost all of that stuff they're reacting to, so why didn't they need these ads then?
