eReaders

Post by SpaceBooger »

My wife's birthday is coming up next month and I was thinking about getting her an ereader, but I don't want to pay the hefty price for a nook or kindle.
Anyone know of any cheaper, yet nice, ereaders for a cheap price (ie under $100?)

Could you buy used 2nd gen Kindle? You may be able to find one for under 100.

I was just coming here to post a thread asking if anyone has an international Kindle, I would be interested in knowing what you think of it and how decently is the international WhisperNet treating you.

Kindle is about as cheap as it gets without going used like Ivo mentioned. Personally, $139 isn't really expensive when compared to the competition. Spend the extra forty dollars and get her something she'll not just like, but love and use.

i don't know your wife, but I think it is generally better to have something quality used, than for the same price a crappier thing that is new (it won't be new for long). There are exceptions of course and it depends on the price difference etc., but with e-readers I think you would do well with a used Kindle.

Let us know what you decide :)

the one I have is called the Pandigital Novel. Those digital photo frame guys. It only runs pdf and epub, which is half the stuff out there, but pdfs don't format to the screen that well. I'd get the nook.

Ive used a kindle fairly extensively and loved it. It didnt hurt my eyes after looking at it for an extended period of time, which was really what almost sold me on it. Then I saw a friends Nook Color...it handles PDFs alot better and has caused me to second guess myself.

The Nook color doesn't use a e-ink screen. The Kindle is great for reading books for extended sessions due to its easy on the eyes e-ink screen. Not to mention, the Nook color has to suck the battery up and be hard to read outdoors. I'd wait until the color e-ink screens come out in a year or two.
