confess: what classic game have you not played but should

to go along with the new year's theme, i was curious about what games are on people's list of games you really, really should have played/finished already but haven't. my list is embarrassingly long, but every year i chip away at it and get through a few. here are some of my confessions:

- resident evil 1 and 2: i've played RE4, but i'm just not into survival horror that much. but i know these are games that i should finish. i'm actually more than 1/2way through RE1, but it's just so damn slow and clunky. really not looking forward to playing through the rest of the series.

- goldeneye N64, halo 1, half-life 2: i'm not into FPSs in general, but i know i should play through the classics. i've started goldeneye like 3 times but just haven't gotten into it yet, mostly b/c i keep getting poisoned by that gas in like the 2nd level and don't want to look up in a FAQ what i'm supposed to do there. ech. i'm determined that this will be the year i'll actually play through that game.

- GTA3: i have this perverse desire to play through GTA1 first, which i've picked up a few times but even though it was pretty fun i still haven't sat down to finish it.

- castlevania SOTN: another game that i got pretty far into a long time ago, but then i got stuck and still haven't gotten back to it. i still think it's really cheap that to progress you have to notice that one clock in that one corridor.

the common theme here is that these are all non-nintendo games. i'm such a nintendo fanboy. on the up side, there aren't that many really classic nintendo-platform games i haven't finished yet, except for chrono trigger and FF2 (i.e. FF4) which is just due to my getting easily bored with RPGs.

This is still one of my favorites after the numerous times I have finished it. You will really be glad you got to the end with 190+%

My answer is Chrono Cross, for some reason I never got around to it. I have the first game, so at some point I will make the time.

- goldeneye N64, halo 1, half-life 2

I may sound a bit elitist but I don't think that Halo and Goldeneye are must plays. Half Life 2 is good but I have to say it failed to really get my attention as much as it is supposed to.

Concerning GTA3, skip it and play a modern version instead. The game is practically the same but with improvements here and there.


I have to say. I picked up HL2 but I just won't play it because if I want to shoot things Team Fortress is my game to go.

I'm starting to play some that my mom wouldn't let me when I was a kid.

Just picked up Shadowgate for the NES which a friend has told me I would love. As far as a more mainstream one goes, I regret not finishing Super Mario Sunshine.

as for me, i have never played SOTN. one of my local stores has a cib copy, but it is the GH version. and i think they want 30 bucks. if i am going to drop 30 bucks on the game, it will not be the GH version.
