Re: Fatal Frame 1 Review (Xbox/PS2)
Excellent review! I really liked the information about what the game was based on. Actually creeped me out a bit. Makes me want to start playing this series today, but I have a few other games to finish first.

Great review, I love this game a lot... The sequel is really good too, a better game even I'd say, though it's not quite as scary as the original.
But I gotta call out that anti-western horror bit in the beginning. You obviously haven't seen Rosemary's Baby. Western horror isn't all slasher flicks you know...
Plus if you watch a lot of j-horror, you'll find that for every great film there's a ton of unbelievably lame ones with similar premises. I've seen a fair bit of shitty Japanese slasher films too.

Heh, I suppose no matter what I do I'll get misunderstandings. I tried to choose my words carefully there. I said,AppleQueso wrote:I gotta call out that anti-western horror bit in the beginning. You obviously haven't seen Rosemary's Baby. Western horror isn't all slasher flicks you know...

"I don’t really enjoy western horror films. I seldom find such movies entertaining as they’re usually predictable and downright boring. Most of them achieve their scares with shock value alone. While the “boo” factor works to an extent, the most effective means of delivering fright are psychological..."
Key words "usually" and "most of them". There are some notable exceptions like yes, Rosemary's Baby. When I said western films, I wasn't implying that Japanese horror films fare any better because for every Ringu there's a Machine Girl or Onechanbara.

Great review, it seems to go for pennies in PAL land I paid £4 for my mint copy.

Out of curiosity, does Project Zero has its own dub? I always wonder what the do for PAL multi-5 games. I kinda doubt it, but it would be nice if there was a better English dub for Europe.

Understood, though that wasn't too clear originally.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Heh, I suppose no matter what I do I'll get misunderstandings. I tried to choose my words carefully there. Do you plan to review Fatal Frame II?

Re: Fatal Frame 1 Review (Xbox/PS2)
absolutely! If I review the first in the series, there's a good chance I will review the ones to follow. I want to write my reviews in chronological order or at least the order in which the games are in. I've already done it with Megaman 1, then 2, 3, 4, and now 5. I'll be covering up to Megaman 10 before I move on to the X series.AppleQueso wrote:Do you plan to review Fatal Frame II?
