PSone shows scrolling red lines - RESOLVED
I recently picked up a PSone (SCPH-101 model) and when I hook it up I get a couple scrolling red line clusters moving upwards on a black background. I have tested the A/V cable with another playstation and ruled it out as the issue. Could one of you more tech savvy fellows give me an idea of what's going on here? Having difficulties finding any coherent help through Google.

could you post a picture or video
Edit: does the system have a the void sticker, if it doesn't have the sticker it could have been overclocked an the lines are static.

Stupid question, is it a US/CAN model and not a PAL one that's rolling a picture?

I won't consider anything you guys ask a stupid question cause I am totally ignorant when it comes to this stuff.Hobie-wan wrote:Stupid question, is it a US/CAN model and not a PAL one that's rolling a picture?

Re: PSone shows scrolling red horizontal lines when turned on.
check and see if where the a/v cable goes in the ps1. The connector on the console may be damaged.
its not gonna help you too much but, wiggle the cable where its connected to the ps1, and see if that changes anything on the screen.
if its damaged then theres not much to do but fix it on the inside. I know nothing of soldering so ask the other folks here for help like that

Re: PSone shows scrolling red horizontal lines when turned on.
The connector doesn't have any apparent visible damage and wiggling the A/V cord doesn't change anything. I decided to crack the sticker so that I could see inside the unit but I don't see anything obviously wrong.

Not sure if it's relevant, but after closer observation, the power adapter that came with my PSone is a Sony AC 4.5V probably used for a discman whereas the official adapter was an AC 7.5V.

Yeah, that's probably it. It's not getting enough juice so it's just sorta fizzling a bit. I'm sure the amperage isn't enough either.Czernobog wrote:Not sure if it's relevant, but after closer observation, the power adapter that came with my PSone is a Sony AC 4.5V probably used for a discman whereas the official adapter was an AC 7.5V.
