Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility fluke

Post by aaron »

ok. i own 4 oXbox titles. Panzer Dragoon Orta, Armed & Dangerous, Project Gotham Racing 2 and Robotech: Battlecry. all of them can be found on the latest compatibility list, and all of them worked on my 360 up until the update back in november. i remember just not letting it bother me but then i wanted to play one of them tonight, and was reminded of the issue. has anyone else had any problem with this? forum searches are hit & miss and chock full of fanboyism ( ZOMG FUX M$ THEIR JUST WANT UR $$$$$$) and i literally just spent an hour and a half on the phone with xbox customer support to no avail.

sorry for the long, incoherent post.

I had issues with Morrowind playing on my 360, when its listed as playable on the compat list. Shenmue 2, Halo 1 and 2, GTA Vice city all work fine.

The only advice I could get was 'try GOTY edition' and make sure you are connected to live when trying the game because it will apparently download a profile for the game. I had no luck with being on live but it is all I can suggest.

I got a feeling that MIcrosoft just didn't put the effort to support the original xbox games in their system updates and the new "slim" xbox...

I got a feeling that most people moved from the original xbox, and no one is looking to play the original games any more, so they just didnt bother.

I got a feeling that original xbox gamers are really small small community

Totally sucks. I have some games like Metal Slug 4/5 and X Men Legends that i'd love to play, but I need to get an original XBOX. I'll probably end up doing that because I wanted to mod it anyway.

You would've thought that by the year 2010 you would be able to play old games on new systems, but I guess not. I'm sure it has a lot to do with emulation problems and the fact that they don't want to package old hardware into the new systems to save money. We retro gamers are a small demographic for the current gen so I doubt they would invest anything to appease us.

i think you guys might be missing what i'm saying, these are 4 games that were ON the original compatibility list, the one that's only current up to Nov. 2007. i have played them on the very 360 that refuses to play them now. ever since the update, it's like it's just broken.
