CPS III cracked

Cracked but not yet emulated. They estimate a few weeks before it actually emulates, end of the year before it does it well.

A paramount day for the emulation and MAME communities.

Wow -- maybe I'll actually get to play Warzard in the near future
Great news!

My thought exactly. Sadly I do not really care for Third Strike as much as others.

Though this leads to hope of NAOMI emulation in MAME in the near future. As far as I understand NAOMI's protectcion scheme worked a good bit like CPSIII. Though I honestly cannot remember where I read that.

Agreed. Reminds me of when they cracked the Cx4 chip for Megaman X2 and X3 on SNES. Epic news.

Emulation of any new system is great news.

I remember when cps2 broke, that was something I was really waiting for a few years.

Though I wish the model 3 was emulated better. I really like that star wars trilogy arcade game. It's a old and aging machine these days and no one seems to repair them when I see them out in the wild. Someday...

Isn't it interesting to see how low res those games really are. I always got the impression in the late 90s that CPS3 was much much better resolution than CPS2. I think its really the color and animation that set SF3 above the rest. I can't wait to play it at 60fps and smoothly scaled to 1080p in MAME.

I dont know if you guys have been keeping up with the news of the CPS3, But..

It turns out all they need to do is to write the video card emulator for the CPS3, everything else has been more or less previously emulated from other machines.

There is two projects trying to emulate it the mame guys, and the guy behind Nebula the emulator. Since the machine is only has 20mhz CPU, and the CPU is already emulated from other machines they are getting like 250-300 FPS on the machine already, graphic glitches aplenty but at least there wont be a speed problem :)

the Nebula project: (in spanish may want to use google translator)

and the Mame guys:

Check out the screenshots. The project is going so fast. I'm very excited.

Feeling the need to update people, mame32 and nebula have test alphas working of cps3 emulation.

The nebula test is far better than the mame32 one,

Run the cps3 games with the mame sets and they also require chd images as well, (can be found on U-G)
