Windows Server 2003/2008 and Embedded CE 6.0 Question
Ok so I got myself copies of these OS's for free due to the Dreamspark program that Microsoft has. So my question is can any of these OS's be a substitute to a normal consumer OS? Basic computing needs really nothing more than that. I've never tried these OS's and I want some sort of insight before I give the time to set them up. I've done a Google search and turned up nothing unless I'm doing it wrong...
Re: Windows Server 2003/2008 and Embedded CE 6.0 Question
We user Server 08 at uni on our personal caddy HDD's, I have a few games installed, as Server 08 is pretty much Vista SP1 with a heap of added network functions, it will play games. I surf the web on machine, do what I would do on my home desktop (I am a top student you see haha).
However, you run into issues quite often with installers (For programs, games, etc) telling you that your OS is not supported.
Once installed you also get errors in quite a lot of games / apps, most of which can be fixed via .dll's (gameux.dll is the big one).
So the answer to your question is yes you can, but more work in involved in installing / gettings application to work, generally speaking, I wouldnt bother.

Thanks for the info. I'll experiment just for the sake of killing time.
