In 2008, after reading Louis L'amour's autobiography, I began writing lists of every book I read, every film I watched, and every game I beat, just to see how much I had actually done and to keep a written record so I could go back and remember some of the things I'd gone through. So here's my list from 2010:

I watched a fair amount of movies, beat some games... I hardly read any books. I passed my generals exam and am now a formal PhD candidate, plus I bought my first house. Pretty good year.

I did that in my youth. It is quite the accomplishment. That game is hard as hell.

I've been meaning to get into Dick, and heard many good things about Dick, but I tried getting some from the library and even though they weren't that long or thick, I didn't have the follow through to suck it up and keep on trucking. Maybe sometime I will go back over there and try again to get into Dick. And this time actually do it too!

Admittedly I've found a lot of his work to be hit-or-miss. I've had friends that I thought would dislike his work that loved it, while others who I thought would like it have hated his writing. I didn't care for this book of his too much, but some of his short stories I felt are much better. My suggestion would be to find a collection of his short stories and try reading those. If you end up hating it, well, at least they're extremely short.
