Patching a Cartridge?

Is it possible to apply a Translation Patch to a Famicom Game Cart? If yes, how is it done? I just bought Mad City for the Famicom, and I'd really like to get the most out of it.

I would ask Ziggy or Electrochip.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The problem with some Famicom carts is fitting the new chips inside. I have a couple Famicom carts that I wanted to patch myself (Akumajo Densetsu, Akumajō Special: Boku Dracula-kun, Contra) but haven't yet because I have to think of a good way to do it. These carts mentioned only allow for smaller size chips than what we have available to replace them with, so fitting them inside is hard. I have patched a few Famicom carts for myself already (Final Fantasy 3, Akumajo Dracula reproduction) which worked perfectly. So it really just depends on the cart. None are impossible (I don't think). It'll just either be fairly easy and straight forward or a pain in the ass.

edit: Just checked the Mad City cart on the NES Cart Database, the CHR ROM is 32-pin (which is good) and the PRG ROM is 28-pin BUT it has a 32-pin socket (which is also good). As long as there weren't variances in the carts (which there probably isn't) it should be straight forward to do.

Yeah, if it's a pirate though it'd might be hard to rewire, but if it's a official NES game, NESDev should have the rewiring docs you would need on the site somewhere.
