Disabling dynamic processing on LCDTVs?

Post by Pulsar_t »

I have a Samsung 32 incher and it's giving me the blues. When I hook up a VGA or (console) HDMI cable the 'dynamic' processing of the picture is disabled but with RCA cables or even HDMI coming from a DVBS2 receiver it turns back on and I find the effect to be highly undesirable. I tried fiddling with the options to no avail, eg disabling dynamic contrast. Perhaps there's a trick I can do to make it leave the processing to the source itself?

Have you tried contacting Samsung support? Or maybe they have on-line info on the model of your TV that might help.

The US Samsung Q&A section has similar questions about the dynamic lighting/dimming feature that all say to schedule a technician to come and fix the problem/feature (call 1-800 number)

There's a chance this model doesn't have a service mode since I think there's a USB port on the back for servicing.
I couldn't find a service manual for it on the sites I got the ones for all my TVs at. It's better to follow a guide when working in service mode but I found nothing online except these:

Service mode codes - these can possibly make your TV stop working by changing the wrong setting so use at your own risk.

I've only gone through service modes on Sony and Toshiba TVs, but they all have tons of options with 4-letter labels. I just looked up the labels on google and found out what they did.

Thanks for the replies. It seems when I replaced the cables I got a better luma singal, and the TV does far less dynamic processing now. Plain RCA cables aren't suitable for LCDs anyway. :|
