Against my better judgment, I went ahead and sent my YLOD PS3 Launch 60GB to these dudes at
http://www.wiredextreme.com, 2 weeks later it has the YLOD again.
They have a warranty, so they will fix it again for me at just the cost of shipping, is it even worth it? Is there a better way to fix it that they might not offer? I could probably do exactly what they are doing myself..
Once your PS3 gets the YLOD and it is repaired, its more likely to get the YLOD in the future right?
I don't even play games on my PS3, I only watch movies on it. I never watched anything on it over normal time-wise. It worked the last time it played, turned it on and it just turned off, now it blinks when you try to turn it on.
I am debating just selling this and buying an Oppo..

Two weeks later sounds like they didn't do it right and should cover it for free. That's not like you flogged it for months playing some game 12 hours a day on it and need warranty coverage. I'd email them at least.

Yeah I didn't even play 1 game on it since they repaired it actually..
But it says right in their policy that there is no refunds and the customer always covers shipping

Thaaaaaaats...actually a really good price for a refurbished unit. How much for shipping? If it was $30 or less, Id say definitely send it back one more time but its up to you. Im sure there are better refurbishing services out there, though, its just a question of price.

He sent in his own PS3. The service and shipping cost $80. He didn't buy a refurb for $80.Jonesy47 wrote:Thaaaaaaats...actually a really good price for a refurbished unit. How much for shipping? Yeah that's crap. The BG stations are expensive, but I can't imagine there's much in the way of supplies and electricity that goes into a round in the machine.christoph wrote:Yeah I didn't even play 1 game on it since they repaired it actually..

Re: Best Way to Repair YLOD PS3
Oh and incase anyone was considering going with Wired Extreme, just to show how bright this company is - when my PS3 was first returned to me, the entire console looked like someone had eaten a greasy cheeseburger with fries, and then manhandled the entire case. Literally hundreds of greasy fingerprints, dust, grime all over the outside of the console.
They also made the quality decision to put "processed" or some sticker stating that it was finished being repaired right on top of the touch sensitive power/eject buttons....took like 10 minutes to scrap it off
Pretty lame

Re: Best Way to Repair YLOD PS3
So per your subject, I would have to say going straight to Sony would be the "best way" to repair it. It might cost you more but I'm pretty sure the company that makes it would have better knowledge than a 3rd party and the warranty should be better.
