Neo-Geo Consoles Question
Would you all say that if I already own a Neo-Geo CDZ, there's no point in getting an AES, or should I still get one? If yes, why should I get one?

Re: Neo-Geo Consoles Question
AES/mvs is the true arcade port of the games released. The cdz has a much better loading system than the front loader but aes/home carts or mvs/arcade carts is always the best option, besides aes has garou mark of wolves, that alone should be your answer right there
Re: Neo-Geo Consoles Question
The AES is better, but everything about it is 100x more expensive. If you are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for one game, go for the AES.

Re: Neo-Geo Consoles Question
Well if you already own a CDZ, as do I, and have played the AES, you know that you NEED either cartridge system.ReddMcKnight wrote:Would you all say that if I already own a Neo-Geo CDZ, there's no point in getting an AES, or should I still get one? If yes, why should I get one?
I might own the CDZ but I not only hate the controller but the loading times are horrible. The Saturn versions of many NeoGeo games are much better on loading times (plus the RAM cart seems to help but that might just be imagined
I know the cart systems are much more expensive game-wise but, the loading times are just awful even on the CDZ (I don't even play it anymore).

Re: Neo-Geo Consoles Question
The CDz has MOST of the NG games that you'd want, but the AES and MVS do have some that never made it to the Neo Geo CD. Brad mentioned Mark of the Wolves. It's a good example, but you need to know that those games that didn't make it to CD are generally VERY expensive. You might be better of buying Mark of the Wolves on the Dreamcast, unless you have some serious money to blow on AES games.
Get an AES if you want the true, classic Neo Geo experience with no load times. If you were the type of guy who used to salivate over the "wiener" Neo Geo ads and reviews in magazines, then maybe you won't be happy unless you have an AES. Otherwise, it might be better to stick to the CDz and ports of the more expensive games on other consoles (ie. Metal Slugs on NGCD, PS1/2, Mark of the Wolves on DC, Last Blade 2 on DC/PS2, etc.).
Some AES games can be had for fairly cheap prices, so it isn't THAT expensive if you just want to get an AES with some cool retro games like Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, 3 Count Bout, Football Frenzy, etc. Just be prepared to PAY if you want any of the games mentioned in the above paragraph.

So, are you the type of guy that drooled over wieners?

True. I've picked up several NeoGeo games for less than $10 each even CIB. But yeah, the more popular sequels cost a lot... like next-gen console price expensive.

Re: Neo-Geo Consoles Question
Just get a consolized MVS. All games on there are way way cheaper than AES.
Re: Neo-Geo Consoles Question
Some people i know have either purchased an arcade cab with MVS,or the more knowledgeable have built a Jamma arcade test rig (supergun) and play MVS with that as AES is often more difficult to obtain or too pricey.
I have both a MVS cab and Test rig
