To be completely honest, I've always wanted a 3DO, ever since that thing was first released, I just to get my hands on that thing. No matter how expensive it is. Since eBay only offers at least $300 for the system, maybe if I am lucky I might get it
Neo-Geo for sure. It might hold its value until the end of time. The games are so spendy and kinda rare aren't they? Some of my best memories of the 90's gaming scene was renting Neo-Geo and the best games with all the friends. SNES and Genesis got a rest that weekend!

300 DOLLARS!?
Wow, I have two here... I should sell those damn things, I never use them and I only picked em' up for like 20 bucks at a pawn shop. Schwing!
[edit]
not uh... I see them for like 40 bones "buy it now" on ebay.
I was about to say, like 2 years ago they sold for pennies, I was wondering why they would of gone up in price so much since 2 years ago.

I was just going to point out 3D0 can't be selling for that much
In any case, to the person wanting to get a NGPC, they're very affordable IMO; and almost worth the price of admission just for the 2 exclusive Metal Slugs.
As for me, I think I might eventually get a Game Gear. I wanted one when I was a kid. I have sort of decided not to get it... Now it's absolutely obsolete and the few decent exclusive games (that aren't ports of Master Syste?) can be played on emulators; probably not worth the trouble considering the screen isn't very good and that I'd need to get an AC adaptor to go with it (I only have 4 rechargeable AAs, I think GG eats 6 AAs).
Makes more sense to apply the money I'd spend on the GG to buy a DS lite, but that's sort of not the topic I think.
NeoGeo. I'd prefer the AES system, but in a pinch I'd take the CD system. The bummer is that carts for it cost so much! Like Pulstar is easily $400-$600 (figures, I want the super expensive games first!)
Like everyone else it seems I've love to get a NeoGeo AES system but I'm afraid I could never afford the games (unless someone starts making cheap blank cartridges with a flasher kit...). I'll probably buy a NeoGeo CD system someday though. I'd like to get a NeoGeo Pocket Color system to, which is much more affordable.
I'd also like to pick up the rather obscure PC-FX system sometime. For those who have never heard of it was the sucessor system to the NEC PC-Engine/TurbogGrafx-16 but was only released in Japan. I think the lifespan was 1994 - 1998. It is a CD-based system and I've seen images for most of the games on Emule - some of the original games can be very very expensive. NEC also officially encouraged homebrew development for the system and provided tools and hardware - which I think is pretty unique among most consoles.
Mabey a Commodore 128 sometime to? For some odd reason it looks like a cool interesting computer-like console to have. I've also found out a lot of the older MS-DOS games I've played had superior Commodore versions.
In any case when I go to Japan I'm hoping to find the NeoGeo-Cd and PC-FX systems somewhere. The prices from Japanese sellers on e-bay are pretty reasonable but it is the shipping costs that kill - often times end up being more then the console itself.
