a stupid "what's it worth" question (with a twist)

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

a stupid "what's it worth" question (with a twist)

Post by Lord_Santa »

not sure where to put this, so I'll just throw it in the off-topic section:

thing is; I have a retro-game-store in my town
that is... I have 1 retro-game-store in my town

the guy running that particular store knows he the only one in town
hence... he's an ass-hole

he buys my games for ridicolous prices; or should I say "trades" my games for ridicolous prices

but he has games which I seek

now, some time ago I bought Bahamut Lagoon and BoF 1+2 from him (JP/SFC) and payed about 35€ all-in-all

I thought it to be a fair price

now apparently this ass-hole (forgive mah repeat, but he really is) is selling Final Fantasy V (JP/SFC) for 15€

I looked at it last time I was there, but didn't pay much attention to it, since I thought it to be rather common

turns out there's another store opening up in my town that trades Final Fantasy V (JP/SFC) for 140€

and in turn they sell Super Nintendo (the machine) for 80€

now (in theory) it would take me about an hour to make a profit of 125€ and since I don't have an SNES, but been desperate for one since.... release... I figured I could make a trade here

but I have no clue as to what Final Fantasy V is really worth

I don't think I'll be able to sell it on-line at any higher price than that, since the store I'm trading it with sells it for 180€

but just to make sure

how much is Final Fantasy V (JP/SFC) worth?
as far as I've seen it has the box and the cartridge, I am not 100& sure if it has the instruction-manual, but I am almost certain it does (my other games I bought there had it)

is it worth trading for an SNES (and a couple of games, I gather it), or should one hold on to it, etc.?

I mean, the guy selling the game (the ass-hole) knows everything there is to know about PAL prices, but (apparently) nothing about the rest of the world's prices

I sincerely, deeply hate the guy and would love to rip him off, laughing all the way from one store to the other, but I don't want to make any mistakes here

so what do you guys think?

I figured it'd be something along those lines

damn Swedes don't know a thing 'bout pricing

oh well, I'm going to phone the "other" store (the one I'm trading it with) first and see if their prices are legit

thanks for the info
